Caffeinated Smart Cookie
Caffeinated Smart Cookie is a premium soft baked chocolate chip cookie made by The Get Up and Go baking Company.
Each cookie is a large 3 ounces, but according to the label each cookie is two servings. However, I don't think many would eat just half the cookie, so the caffeine amount listed above is for the whole cookie.
The company recently sent us some samples to evaluate.
Smart Cookie Review
I consider myself a bit of a chocolate chip cookie connoisseur, so I was both excited and a little skeptical when I opened the pack of Smart Cookies.
Chocolate chip cookies for me have to be soft but not dry and have a good balance of sweet, salty, and bitter from the chocolate.
Here's how Caffeinated Smart Cookies faired.
Taste
Smart Cookies are soft like I like and had a great flavor overall, but I could detect the added caffeine, which came across as a slightly bitter taste. (But not like semi-sweet chocolate chips.)
However, this wasn't a detractor from me eating the whole cookie since overall it is a good tasting cookie.
Get Up and Go reformulated their cookies and sent me some new ones to try. Their new cookies have no bitter taste and are excellent. In my opinion, they are better than most pre-made chocolate chip cookies on the market.
Energy/ Effect
With 180 mg of caffeine in each Smart Cookie they indeed do pack a punch.
I ate the cookie casually over about a half an hour of working. After about ½ a cookie I could already feel the effects of the caffeine. After the whole cookie the world was a much better place.
This is coming from someone that has reset his caffeine tolerance and only has caffeine about once a week.
Again, a serving is half a cookie or 90 mg of caffeine, but after tasting Smart Cookies, I can't see a person stopping at half a cookie.
Not For Children!
Okay, Caffeinated Smart Cookies are definitely an adult only type of snack. They have more caffeine than what's in a Monster, 2 Red Bulls, a 8 fl. oz. brewed coffee, 5 Cokes, and 3 Mountain Dews!
If you buy these, keep them away from any children that might be in the house.
