Starbucks Vending Machines

Starbucks are taking over the world.

Recently they began their own record label (Hear Music). For some reason Paul McCartney decided to break off his 43 year partnership with EMI and go with the Starbucks label instead.

More Convenient Starbucks

Starbucks plan was to distribute their own vending machines for hot drinks.

With a simple swipe of a payment card (or with cash), a high-quality, hot latte or hot cocoa is served up in a ready-to-drink package in less than a minute. Utilizing proprietary packaging, each hot beverage will come in a convenient 9-fluid-ounce recyclable steel can with an insulating label, designed to keep the beverage warm, enjoyable, and still comfortable to the touch (source).

Hot beverage offerings were to include Caffe Latte, Vanilla Latte, Caffe Mocha, Caffe Mocha Light, and Hot Cocoa.

So, hot coffee in a can.

Convenient – but not quite as nice as having a chat to the barista about life, the universe, and the nature of coffee. Then again – I’m not even sure if you get that kind of service in a busy Starbucks outlet anyway.

Starbucks Fails Sometimes Too

Unfortunately, people will still have to head to the corner Starbucks for their coffee fix. This concept failed and is no longer being promoted.

Instead Starbucks is promoting their Seattle’s Best Coffee Station. It only serves brewed coffee and only their Seattle’s Best brand.

Even still, this is a tough sale since many offices are simply turing to Keurig, Nespresso, and even Starbucks’ own Verismo machines as their office coffee solutions.

Many folks just love to get out of the office for a few minutes to get their Starbucks, which is another reason Starbucks Vending Machines failed to catch on.

Would you buy Starbucks coffee from a vending machine?
