What is the Most Expensive Starbucks Drink?
We’ve been tracking the most expensive Starbucks drink for many years and now we have 17 to marvel at.
Just when we think the most expensive coffee record has been achieved, someone sends us a new record breaker.
Here they are from most expensive to least.
The Most Expensive Starbucks Drink Ever Recorded: $148.99
As reported by SouthFloridaReporter.com, our former 5th place record holder, William E. Lewis Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, took another stab at breaking the record with his 173 shot flat white.
He even found a huge coffee cup to make his drink look rather fancy compared to the former contenders who used coolers, vases, and milk jugs.
A Venti Starbucks Flat White has 195 mg of caffeine (3 ristretto shots) and 170 extra ristretto shots would have at least 11,050 mg for a combined 11,245 mg of caffeine in total! That’s over 11 grams folks!
The 2nd Most Expensive Starbucks Drink Ever at $102.15
YouTuber, Elton Castee, also set out to break the most expensive Starbucks drink ever record. He documented the whole process on YouTube here.
As the baristas were busy making his coffee concoction, he used our Death By Caffeine Calculator to find out how many espresso shots would kill him. I’m glad he did! Elton’s Grande Americano with 104 shots in total, certainly would.
Elton also claimed that he had never tried coffee before this? What?
Unlike most of the others on this page, Elton actually paid cash for his drink and didn’t use the Starbucks birthday reward loophole.
The 3rd Most Expensive at $102.04
Thomas set out to break the most expensive Starbucks drink and he sure did. Just like the previous 1st placeholder, Thomas found a “rogue” Starbucks store that was willing to not only make the drink but also put it in his own metal milk can!
Thomas’ White Mocha Frappuccino, complete with 102 extra shots and a hit of protein, clocked in at and an estimated 7,800 mg of caffeine.
The previous winner had more shots and more caffeine, but it looks like the added bananas, protein, and other additions pushed his concoction to the top price-wise.
The 4th Most Expensive at $101.50
Justin came close to breaking the record but was just .55 cents away! However, he claimed a solid second place.
He also found a store willing to make him a drink in his own container, which has been reported as against company policy. Justin said that there was even a small crowd gathered to witness the making of his colossal drink.
His drink clocked in at well over 8,525 mg of caffeine including all of the shots and pumps of Starbuck’s coffee flavoring.
The 5th Most Expensive at $92.55
We thought Starbucks put a stop to these expensive free birthday drink creations, but these two girls found a rogue store in Maryland that honored their request.
Introducing the 120 shot death by Starbucks Americano with a whopping 9,000 mg of caffeine!
Luckily, Kiersten Vorv and Shaine Cohen who created the drink were smart enough to not drink it all at once and live to submit this to us.
The 6th Most Expensive: $86.55
Renee C. recently visited her local New York City Starbucks and ordered a 100 shot, Caramel Frappuccino with soy, vanilla syrup, and Frapp chips for good measure.
All in all excluding sales tax, the drink clocked in at $86.55 and contained about 7,650 mg of caffeine!
This was Starbucks’ way of telling her happy birthday I guess.

The 7th Most Expensive at $83.75
William E. Lewis Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Florida takes the cake here.
His Drink: A Grande Latte, complete with 99 shots of espresso, 17 pumps of vanilla syrup.
According to Eyesonnews – he did share the drink with friends. No one could drink that much anyway.
8th Most Expensive at $71.35
Jarrod knew what he was doing when he entered his West Virginia Starbucks. He was armed with a cooler for goodness sake.
His Drink: A Venti Mocha Cookie Frappuccino with 77 shots of espresso, which is about 6000mg of caffeine including all of the extras.
I just love the fact that this Starbucks actually filled up his cooler with his drink.
Jarrod’s drink was an astounding $71.35!
9th Most Expensive
Steven’s almost $60 Starbucks drink is pretty simple.
Water and espresso shots. 84 to be exact, clocking in at 6,300mg of caffeine.
Steven said the drink took over an hour to make and ended up being 3/4 of a gallon!
10th Most Expensive
Sameera recently set out to break the record but came in at a very close second.
Her Starbucks concoction clocked in at $57.75 and contained a heart stopping 4,630mg of caffeine.
This drink was first reported to Consumerist.com who contacted Starbucks about this “competition”. Starbucks responded with the following statement.
Per our existing policy, beverages larger than Trenta size (31 oz.) cannot be made or served. This includes personal cups that exceed 31 oz (or a Trenta-sized cup). For blended beverages and espresso drinks, those cannot be made or served in sizes larger than a Venti (24 oz cold cup/20 oz hot cup).
I foresee a company-wide memo in the making.
11th Most Expensive Starbucks Drink
Introducing the 69 shot chocolate chai caramel vanilla hazelnut white mocha caramel sauce classic syrup mocha cookie crumble frappuccino!
Another free birthday drink has beaten the previous record set just over a week ago.
Espresso + Chai + Chocolate will put this one at about 5,300mg of caffeine!
Rose Reeves sent this to us and here’s what she said about her creation.
I had a free coffee for my birthday on my card. I could think of no funner thing to do with it but break the record. I love coffee and actually have a very discerning coffee palette. I had worked for Starbucks for some time and was a black apron associate, so I got to where I could tell from what region a coffee was from! This monster coffee’s total before tax was $56.70. I took the leftovers and put them in ice cube trays so that I could blend them to enjoy later!
Note: This drink has been contested because she didn’t fit it into one cup, so they think it shouldn’t count. What do you think? Tell us in the comments below.
12th Most Costly Starbucks Coffee
This guy set out to beat the record but much to his surprise, it had already been beaten.
Although, his 72 shot drink with a little caramel and cookie crumble still clocks in at 3rd place at $55.75 and 5,400mg of caffeine.
He has also documented his adventure here on YouTube.
13th Most Expensive
Starbucks may need to change their free birthday drink policy! This Starbucks drink is crazy.
- 62 shots of Starbucks espresso
- 128 floz cup (his own)
- A lot of other Starbucks goodness.
This one clocks in at more than 4650mg of caffeine!
This was submitted to us on May 26, 2014 via Twitter user ACIFH.
14th Most Expensive: The Quadriginoctuple Frap
This guy once blew all the others out of the water with The Quadriginoctuple Frap. Ok, he cheated a little by bringing his own 52 ounce mug but impressive none-the-least.
His drink had 40 shots clocking in at 3000mg of caffeine!
Total coast: $47.30
Here’s his video….
15th Most Expensive
On July 8 2013, an Caffeine Informer reader Shawn went into a Starbucks and purchased a 52-shot coffee. Ouch!
16th Most Expensive Starbucks Drink
Logan with Geek on Call I.T. Services needed something to help him through his long hours of computer tinkering, so he came up with this drink utilizing Starbucks new Trenta sized cup.
He definitely took advantage of the “free birthday beverage” Starbucks offers! Here’s Logan’s concoction…..
Java Chip Frappuccino in a Trenta cup, 16 shots of espresso, a shot of soy milk, caramel flavoring, banana puree, strawberry puree, vanilla beans, Matcha powder, protein powder, and a drizzle of caramel and mocha.
Total Cost: $23.60 (with tax).
This puppy rocked an impressive 1400mg of caffeine and it looks like he lived to tell about it.
17th Most Expensive
What would you do if you were given a voucher redeemable for any Starbucks drink?
This guy concocted the 16th most expensive Starbucks coffee but was originally one of the most expensive back in the day.
Here it is:
13 shot venti soy hazelnut vanilla cinnamon white mocha with extra white mocha and caramel.
Total Cost: $13.76 (with tax).
What the blogger didn’t tote up was the amount of caffeine in this drink. A while back we compiled a very detailed list of Starbucks Caffeine – using recently published information from Starbucks and independent lab tests.
The figure for an espresso shot is 75mg, so 13x75mg = 975mg. A long way from a lethal dose – but enough to cause some serious reactions. That’s equivalent to downing 3 Spike Shooters – which was enough to send some students to the emergency room.
Be careful folks, it isn’t a competition!
