Stakk'd Caffeine Mixer
Stakk'd Caffeine Mixer is a concentrated caffeine and B vitamin product that's designed to be added to the beverage of your choice.
Stakk'd promotes itself as a clean product, using caffeine derived from coffee beans and it comes in a 25.5 fl.oz. (750ml) glass bottle. About 25 servings per bottle.
The company recently sent us a bottle to evaluate.
Stakk'd Review
My first impression of Stakk'd from looking at the glass bottle is that it's marketed primarily to bars and clubs since it resembles a bottle of alcohol and even comes with a pour spout.
Taste?
1 fl. oz. (30 ml) of Stakk'd is to be added to at least 7 fl. oz. of a beverage of your choice.
I tried Stakk'd 2 ways: In an 8 fl. oz. glass of water and in 8 fl. oz. of caffeine-free Coke Zero.
Water: Stakk'd made the water taste mildly bitter, but not much other flavor was detected.
Coke Zero: Just a tad of that bitterness was still detected, but this was reduced by increasing the Coke Zero to Stakk'd ratio.
Stakk'd recommends their product be used in juice, smoothies, protein shakes, and of course mixed drinks.
I would suspect that Stakk'd Caffeine Mixer would be almost undetectable in drinks with a more complex flavor and sweetness profile.
Energy?
One serving of Stakk'd provides 180mg of caffeine and 50% of vitamins B3, B6, and B5.
The caffeine hit me about 10-15 minutes after drinking the mixed beverage and was pretty similar to a Monster Energy Drink or a Short Starbucks Brewed Coffee.
Stakkd says to have no more than 4 servings of their product per day, but we would advise to have no more than 2. Four servings is equal to 720mg of caffeine, which is well beyond what is considered a safe daily dose.
Caffeine and Alcohol: A Good Mix?
Using Stakk'd in alcoholic beverages could be dangerous, since caffeine tends to mask the effects of alcohol.
Their have been numerous studies that looked into this trend as well as some reported alcohol poisoning deaths with caffeine as a related factor.
Stakk'd is recommended for healthy adults only who understand their level of caffeine sensitivity.
